Tbh, I feel like after Batman bring terrible on PC, gamers are coming for anything that doesn't 100% please them.
Trine 1 & 2 were sidescroller platformers, that were lengthy but slightly repetitive, but we'll made.
They released a 3D game that is STUNNING and high budget, for just $20 - $25 USD.
And everyone is angry they released a game that was "only" 5 hours long. For the price it sounds about right, and the game plays really well for an indie game.
I feel like Steam players are becoming more entitled. I could understand if the game was unfinished, but it was just shorter. 2D games are usually longer anyway.
The devs did an excellent considering fans wanted a 3D game and the devs had to use a similar budget. Gamers are so hard to please.
For $20, I don't know why people were expecting a long ass campaign.
