Well it's definitely a lot easier to meet other gays now. Guys are used to meeting for a quick fling and off to the next one. They definitely can harm romance, but it depends on the intent of the users on the app. And truth be told the guys "seeking friendship" "on here cause I'm bored" "looking 4 netflix n chill" are not on there for love.

I honestly don't see the difference between gay men meeting on grindr vs meeting in a gay bar.

The sex and the city women were like 10x worse than everyone on grindr.

I'm decent looking and do well on the apps, I get like... one or two cuties messaging me a week. But 9.5/10 I never meet them because I lose track and they are also talking to 5 other guys too, its just a mess. I'd much rather have one or two GOOD ONES a year and ride that out, instead of 45 okay guys who fizzle out after a week of talking.

The funny thing is that a lot of these guys suck ass at even trying to strike up a conversation online. Like I get that some people really aren't good with texting and prefer face to face conversation, but some of them can't even get past "wats up" or "nm, u?" It's kind of sad

I think the apps (gay and straight) harm monogamy in general, because it's so easy to find someone else (for sex or love) that a lot of people will be thinking "what if..." - curiosity will get the better of them and they'll want to see what else (or who else) is out there.

It's really not Grindr or Scruff or any site for gay men. Gay men (maybe even straight men, but I think the percentage is higher for gay men) really hound all avenues when it comes to sex. Craigslist, Facebook, any method they can use to find a guy, they'll do it.

The sad part is gay men were never taught how to date, like straight people are. There is no reference point for us to go to. We didn't grow up watching movies. We don't have standards for bringing flowers or nice dinners. There is no courtship.

That's happened to me dozens of times. I've rarely found a guy who wants to do the dating thing. In fact I've only dated one guy where we went out several times before having sex. One guy out of hundreds. And even then it's not like we didn't fool around on our second date.

I'm not anti-sex or hook up but there's a problem going on. Call it fear of commitment or liberation from the social constructs of the past but we're all going to wind up 40 something and single because nobody wants to settle down with one person. Well some do, but those guys tend to be creepy, clingy and weird. It's the perfect storm of finding the best guy for you and he doesn't want to date while you have this guy who wants to date and you're not into him at all.
