I mean, posting a lot isn't good or bad in itself... if you post lots of good things that contributes to intelligent conversation, it's good. If you post pointless stuff, then it's bad.

That's exactly what I thought when I read the title!
If your posts are pointless because they are simple phrases or GIFs, yeah, I can appear bad.
Otherwise, I can think of a couple of people who I wish posted more of their opinions and thoughts...

I think what I consider before posting is how confidential the information is and if the thread is turning into some sort of chat. Some things are meant for private messages or instant messages... and if I think my response could go either way, I tend to avoid posting.
