To start off, I am going to start working as a teacher of the English language in September (Grades 1, 3 and 7, might get more), and it's going to be my last year in the university as well, I've qualifications in the English language and social studies. I decided to become a teacher because flawless Cameron Diaz inspired me through the movie Bad Teacher I'm also 22, I graduated high school 3 years ago
So what I want to ask is what would be your tips for me. I definitely have the plan of being a bitch the first day and then being nicer the rest of the year. What do you think? I'm really anxious about it.
I would say try to be nice, understanding and approachable but not to the point where you act like you're their friend. You need to keep your authority at all times. Good luck.
Wow, congratulations! You are raising the next generation
Be kind but be strict and fair.
Make sure you're open and have the presence that's easy to talk to. Also show dedication towards your students. Show interest in them! Try to learn their names quickly and mark their books ASAP!

Please don't dump a sheet and tell them to give it in at the end of the lesson. But talk through the topics in detail, have fun slide shows and animations! Luckily English is a creative subject (Yaaaaas I study it)!
Let me know how it goes! You'll do really good though!
It might not work for every class but my favorite class nowadays is by a really young teacher who really emphasizes that they are available for assistance if need be.
Also it may seem obvious but to some I know, you need to make sure that whenever contributes in class, you don't have to agree or say it's right, but something along the lines of an "interesting point" and if they're plain wrong ask them to explain their justification do they figure out how to do it without saying "nah bad answer"

My English teacher was a total asshole. He only wanted to see receipts, good grades,
discipline and us doing something. That's what made him my fav teacher.
Everyone respected him because he was so strict, at the same time he made jokes.
But if it got too loud he made sure we continued working.
At the end of the year everyone made their stuff and got educated.
I'd aspire to be a teacher like that!
first of all know the students, make a notes about each class, ask for feedback, ask a questions, never allow them to speak or interrupt while you're speaking... make sure there is a part during each class when they can share their own point of view.. understand that some students might sometimes have their bad day too.. and don't have a big expectations... sometimes students won't be the ones who will give you hard times but your fellow colleagues...
