Basically I have to choose a university/college in about 2 weeks.

Is anyone studying biochemistry or something similar (cell biology, genetics, chemistry etc.) Is it worth choosing this direction? Would be very sweet for you to answer.

Are you interested in it? Do you want to study it? If the answer to both those questions is 'yes', then I guess it will be worth it.

Check what modules the university you're applying to offers/the particular areas of study it focuses on.

Hey, I studied Biochemistry for four years and got an honours degree. Job wise things haven't been good for me . Most places look for a year experience for basic roles, and where I am the pay isn't too great either. I would suggest you look into doing lab interning during summer break of each uni year to boost your experience, if you decide to pursue this course. If you like learning about cell mechanisms and protein structures this is the course for you. You usually touch upon some neuroscience and a good bit of genetics throughout your course as well. It was really interesting, but it hasn't done much for me

I'm studying it in high school currently, and it might not be on the same level as in college/uni but its really interesting and chemistry alone is amazing too

I guess it's just my only choice. I can't say I like it because I am almost clueless about what biochemistry exactly is. Chemistry is definitely appealing to me though.

I'm going into my second year as a Biochem major and my professor and I were discussing about what I can do with my degree after I graduate. She said with a bachelor's degree (about 4 years) I'll only be doing basic level work and if I wanted to go far in my career (and earn more money) I would have to pursue a master's or a doctorate's degree. If you want a higher degree than you should take at least three undergraduate research courses (my advisor suggested this but for some school's those courses might be a major requirement) because it will look really good on your resume.
If you don't want to go that far than what you can do is pursue a teaching degree in Chemistry or Biology (if your school offers it) since there is a high demand for science/math teachers plus if you take out federal student loans you can apply for the "Teacher's Loan Forgiveness Program".
Whatever you decide to do you need to make sure that you like your major/field of study because you don't want to get stuck with a job that you're unhappy with.

So basically you're saying you can either study 10 years and become a high-qualified scientist or take the easier path and become a teacher? Or no..

I took a Biochemistry course last year. It wasn't very difficult, but study regularly if you want to get a decent grade

I mean if you don't want to be a teacher or you don't plan on going beyond a bachelor's degree the least you should do is get into undergraduate research and make connections so you'll get a better chance of getting a job after graduating. You can also get into dual-programs or BS/MS programs. Talk to your advisor about your options.
