So excited for this, it's more alt lite than all the stuff she's put out thus far (Blonde was pop and her debut was chanson française). I also hope she can somehow get acknowledged in the Anglo market cause she used to be so big in the French market

I won't lie this is probably her worst album but still I like that she is exploring other sounds and fulfilling her dream of recording in English. And the album will not be bad that's not what I mean but her chanson française>>>

Carry On: a strong indie song with a nice melody.
Crier tout bas: She excels with tracks like this one. French ballads are just her forte. Doesn't feel like a track 2 though.
I Don't Want to Break Your Heart: I like the instrumental, the song is poppy and upbeat but the rapper was so unnecessary.
Drapeau Blanc: Nice melody, I am seeing Lana/Lorde influences in the production. It's cool because it sounds like one of her Blonde tracks with the electronic production.
Undone: Before the chorus it sounded so promising. The chorus and its drums kind of ruins it The bridge with the echos. Nice melody on this one.
Oceans Brawl: Very theatrical, reminds me of Ceremonials era Florence a bit.
Our Love: Again simple production. Okay this album is lowkey disappointing me now....these tracks sound too much like one another except for Undone and the singles
Cast Away: Slow, minimalistic production.Well she's an excellent lyricist even if it's getting a bit repetitive.
Tu oublieras mon nom: Some piano for a change. She is a great piano player. And violins. Reminds me of Oceans Brawl though just with a piano intro. Eh.
The Way Back Home: A piano song in English Still, doesn't make the album more diverse. One of the strongest tracks, nonetheless. That chorus is epic. Florence influence again?
Can't Get Your Love: I really like the production, very Lorde-ish again. Ironically the lyrics and melody are weaker tho. Works as an album track.
The Climb: A nice track. Doesn't really stand out though but it is a nice closer.

I know lots of work went into this and it's good--but I am not feeling it. It is too repetitive. Blonde and Self titled managed to be cohesive but also very diverse in its melodies and rhythm. Some melodies here feel recycled, the production is interesting though. I see she's been listening to a lot of Lana and Florence since 2011.

If I am honest this is a let down, similar to Of Monsters and Men's Beneath the Skin (apt comparison since both were more upbeat last time). This album is even darker than the last one.

Why doesn't she have a Metacritic page? Is it because she is from Quebec? She has sold 1M, way more than many of the indie flops that get reviewed by them

The production is strong but not diverse enough save for the lead, and the melodies are a let down as well

Nothing other than the lead can smash though This will flop hard too compared to the ~200k of Blonde and ~800k of her debut. I predict like 30k

If anything should be released as singles though, maybe Crier tout bas for the French market and The Way Back Home in Canada.

Carry on is so good.

The single has risen so much in France too, it was so close to the top 20 on iTunes. French radio needs to play her Canadian radio too.

She says this is her least dark album because she's now a mom. I think it's her darkest sound-wise, though Blonde dealt with darker themes I guess.

Also French news outlets need to stop pretending she will happen in the US. More than likely she will not, she says she wanted to try writing in English because she liked doing concerts in America but people didn't understand her so she wanted to offer them something new.

Edit: I Don't Want to Break Your Heart is actually a good pop track. It's just unusual for her.

I actually think her debut is her magnum opus. It would be CDP>Blonde>Trauma=Roses for me.

Went to the store and there were only 2 copies available. She is selling well They were 19 euros though, and my laptop can't play CDs

#2 on the Canadian 200 Albums Chart. Blocked by The Weeknd dammit so close to a #1 album (last time she was blocked by Bruce Springteen). She is still ahead of Halsey though. Her 2nd number 2 release in a row. All 4 of her vocal pop releases have charted within the top 5 of Canada. That Francophone audience is loyal.

Aaaw it failed to chart in the US. She should've done some promo and sent the lead single to Alt radio, her management needs to get active If I were in the US my streams would've counted.
