They did the same thing with last year's acclaimed gay film
Pride. It was based on real events, but they made up the main character because they wanted him to be a stand-in for the audience, or something like that.
It seems like
Stonewall is trying to do the same thing, but it doesn't work so well when you're making a film about the event that literally caused the existence of the LGBT+ movement and it's very well documented that trans people, drag queens, and POC were
very heavily involved.
But to answer the question. I'll watch it online, but I'm not giving them any money for this.
