You should see the movie, it is beautiful and heartbreaking but basically he forced Amy to do a lot of things that she didn't want to do, making her situation even worse.
When Amy was trying to get better, she isolated herself in an island and because her father was so dedicated to milk money out of her, he followed her with a camera crew into the island to film every bit of what she did. Not to mention that she was in the hospital and he wanted her to quit it to go on tour.
