“Police in Reunion examining the wreckage say that it looks like it’s been in the water for about a year, which again would fit with MH370. We can’t say for certainty, but we do think there is a chance that this is it.”

Yeah, around 700 kms east of Madagascar and over 6500 kms west of the area they searched for MH370. But I'm sure the wayward sea current could move it there.
I hope it really is MH370. Then the relatives of the passengers can finally make peace.

It'll open up a new area of search, maybe they'll find more debris, hopefully the black box, and the get some real answers.

Réunion is like 4,000 miles away from MH370's last recorded location. If anything this raises more questions.

If this turns out to be part of it, then no it's not the end, but it is what they needed to know where to look. The search right now is no where near that.
