I recently ditched Facebook and Instagram and so have one of my friends. So when I meet people they ask for these things and they give me that look like I'm weird. But I prefer going out, and keeping my business private. I prefer being face to face and I don't care about a person I know from high schools social life.
It isn't weird but I think its better to have them and not use them than not have them at all, because when you don't have them people think you're doing it to seem edgy.
Hmm, speaking as an American college student, I pretty much expect everyone to have a Facebook. (at least when it comes to people my age). I can't tell you the number of times I've been contacted on Facebook saying I left my fake ID at the bar or something, like imagine if I didn't have FB to facilitate this sort of communication!! Also, it's a cute step to take between email and texting.
I deleted my Facebook account in 2012 after break up drama about unfriending friends I had because of my ex. I'm like "Why are these people acting like we was blood?"
I've been much happier without it. Now the only people who contact me are people who actually care. I don't get contacted so that says a lot. I do have Instagram and Twitter. Although it is like talking to myself because again, I'm a loser and nobody cares about me.
I have Facebook, but lately it's just for checking up on events and posting a few photos here and there. I only upload to instagram once in a while. As for twitter, I use it to follow news (like LGBT issues) rather than talk about my day/tweet others.
Not for me. I just recently came back to FB after years of not having it and never log on, and I don't use instagram aside from a blank account to follow celebs.

Who cares what other people think about something like that though? If someone else spends their time questioning and judging what the reasons are that someone doesn't use a certain social networking site, that's their own (very strange) issue
I always go on spurts where I delete my FB for months on end as I literally never use it. I may post a random ass meme or something but I find it extremely exhausting to post about what you're doing, how you're feeling, where you are all of the time. I mean, I just live life without social media'ing it but to each their own...
Instagram and Twitter may be "popular" right now but they only appeal to a specific group of people, I personally have no use for them. Facebook is more for the casual social network user.
That being said Facebook peaked around 2010-2011, as a result most of my classmates (18-19) who used it a lot in middle school still keep their accounts and check back but even two grades below hardly anyone has it.
