Discussion: Why is marijuana such a restricted topic on ATRL?

Whenever a thread about marijuana is made it is almost immediately closed, as if discussion about it is some kind of forsaken topic that should be shunned. ATRL represents itself as a progressive community, beyond the Pop chatter there are members logging on everyday to discuss other contemporary social issues such as racial, gender, and trans inequality. Marijuana is very relevant to today's society, we are in the age where it is becoming more widespread accepted and even legalized, so why can't we talk about it on here? Why is something as petty and harmless seen as some sort of taboo? Im asking for some answers from the mods who disagree with the topic on here and who always shut down the threads. Let's talk about it.

ATRL user GangjaSerbet recently made 'The Stoner Thread' which served as sort of a base for those interested, many curious members who have never smoked were in the thread asking questions about marijuana, it was a healthy discussion and people were learning new things. Unfortunately that thread got closed aswell.

Usually discussions of weed lead to futher discussions of other drugs. It doesn't look good on the website considering a great portion of ATRL's members are minors. There are plenty of drug forums to discuss it all over the interenet though.

Even with it becoming legal in some states in the US and already heing legal in some countries it's a tricky topic.

Which is also a problem when discussing things like sexuality someone always, especially on ATRL, is going to take it "there" so it's best just to ban it altogether.

There is nothing wrong about asking other people's experiences with drugs. Chances are most people have.

Because us stoners need a place to chat and hangout which is why I created that Stoner Thread that only stayed open for about 12 hours. There was a perfectly healthy discussion going on, nobody was pressuring anyone to smoke, everyone was just talking about their experiences

This is also doesn't make sense. There's threads on this site about pop artists where it leads to insults to children, mental illness, and so much more. Should threads about artists be closed too?

We also see threads about shirt less male celebs. And we know how those go, but there isn't a ban on shirtless males here.

Children get exposed to more drugs via television and movies than this little site. And parents should be responsible for what their children are doing.
