WASHINGTON — Donald Trump has surged to the top of a crowded Republican presidential field, a USA TODAY/Suffolk University Poll finds, but the brash billionaire is also the weakest competitor among the top seven GOP candidates against Democrat Hillary Clinton.
In the nationwide survey, Trump leads at 17% and former Florida governor Jeb Bush is second at 14%, the only competitors who reach double digits. Trump's edge, which is within the poll's margin of error, is one more sign that his harsh rhetoric about immigration and toward his rivals has struck a chord with some voters.
If this is really true and doesn't have much impact from trolls, then it's effectively screwing the republicans out of the election
1) Donald will NEVER win a majority election in the US, so if he gets the republican candidacy, say hello to another democratic president
2) If Donald keeps rising in polls, the other republicans will try to tear him down, knowing #1 will happen if he secures his spot, and thus further tarnishing the republican name.
If I lived in the US, I would vote for him to get the Republican nomination just so Hilary or Bernie would have weaker competition during the actual election
