Brody Koshman plans to keep the brand new, $1.1-million house he won in the Kinsmen Home Lottery.
The 24-year-old saw his new home for the first time on Thursday after the charity announced the top prize winners.
“It’s the first house I’ve ever won. ... It’s the first house I’ve ever owned,” Koshman said while standing in his new yard on the edge of the Rosewood neighbourhood.
“It’s a surreal experience. I can’t stop shaking. It’s super nice.”
The 2,600-square-foot, three-bedroom home was the grand prize in the 2015 charity draw. The Kinsmen Home Lottery has raised more than $10 million for charities since its inception.
Koshman’s house comes fully furnished and decorated. The charity called him Thursday morning with the good news.
“I thought it was a prank call at first. ... I almost dropped the phone a couple times,” Koshman said.
“I figured I’d stop by and see what all the hype is about. It’s a really nice house, that’s for sure,” he said.
“We’ll have to open it up with a nice housewarming party first, I think,” he said.
