Forbes: "Sorry Ariana, That's Not How You Apologize"

Let’s review: The big-voiced, pint-sized pop star who’s prone to wearing cat ears on her head was caught on video on July 4 delicately but repeatedly licking donuts that she wasn’t buying in a store in Lake Elsinore, Calif. (where one could reasonably assume there would not be anyone to capture your antics). As if that’s not yucky enough, for unspecified reason, on the most American of all American days, she spouted as a new tray of treats came out, “I hate Americans. I hate America! That’s disgusting.”
Today, Grande apologized —sort of— in a statement via US Weekly and tried to turn her gaffe into, believe it or not, a manifesto on her concern for the public health crisis known as the obesity epidemic. Say what?
Yep, instead of sticking to the basics, Grande tried to reinvent herself as “an advocate for healthy eating,” and convince us that her words about hating Americans and being disgusting were really about her concern for the childhood obesity rate. She even goes so far in her apology as to call for us to educate ourselves and to “demand more from our food industry.” If she’s that disgusted by sugary treats, why was she in the donut store to begin with?
She breaks several rules of effective apologizing:
*Keep it simple: She should have stopped with stating how proud she is to be an American, admit she goofed, and left it at that.

I'm still baffled at how and why her PR team actually let her release that mess of a statement. Where the **** is scooter shouldn't he be a pro of public apologies after dealing with Justin's ass for years.
