I'll check, but states can only deny singles adoption rights if they want; they won't be able to justify denying married gay couples but not heterosexuals since both are considered wed before the law.

Michigan for example, has a law (
House Bill 4188) that allows adoption agencies to turn down prospective applicants because of the organization's religious beliefs in how the child should be raised.
Granted, the agency must then refer the couple to another agency that can help them, but we all can tell the intent of the law. There is still much work to be done to secure easier adoption processes and more fully realized parental rights for same sex parents. But marriage is a huge step!
