For those who aren't going to read the article, officials in New York City exposed pricing discrepancies at Whole Foods, particularly in prepared foods such as cut fruit and meat.

Wal-Mart is a huge store with everything, but very low quality and price.
Target is similar to walmart, but more fashion oriented.
Walgreens is more of a small store that has everything, but not a lot of option.
Whole foods is high end groceries only.

Other major retailers: Costco, Kroger, K-Mart, Sears, etc.

Walgreens and CVS are both Drugstores, they have mainly a small selection of food, books, office supplies, Toys, and health/beauty items.These stores come with Pharmacies as that is their main business

Dollar General and Family Dollar are kinda like
CVS/Walgreen's but lack some departments found at the drugstores

Whole foods is a grocery store that mainly sells organic, free range, locally sourced items.

Other major retailers: Costco (Warehouse club), Kroger (Middle class grocery store), K-Mart (down market version of Walmart/Target), Sears (Downmarket department store), etc.

There's SuperTarget which has full line groceries (deli, bakery, meats and produce

'P-Fresh' which sells mainly boxed/canned goods with limited perishable items.

Regular Target food sections aren't that large.Just a small cooler for Chilled and Frozen stuff with 3-5 aisles of canned/boxed food.NO baked goods or produce.

People always try to compare apples to oranges when talking about Whole Foods. A lot of their organic produce, raw meats, and whole foods are very comparable to Kroger and Sprouts.

I'm not surprised that many things have been found to be overpriced, though.

I go to Whole Foods every week :<

I don't care though, I go to a butcher to get my meats, I call in a order and it's ready when I get there.

Usually I will hit Whole Foods > Butcher > Sams Club > Walgreens for scripts and random stuff then I am done shopping for the week for the most part. Sams Club is like a monthly thing.
