Yeah, the pop girls have been declining and now the panorama is really boring. Music is too indie-influenced, and R&B songs sound too much alike or poorly sample older hits.
Mainstream pop music is boring atm. Now is definitely the time to look outside that sphere if you're looking for decent music. For example Brandon Flowers' The Desired Effect and Drones from Muse are the best albums I've come across this year.
so many one hit wonders. Taylor is obviously unmatched in the field but she's kinda lame now
