GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands —
A 5.8 earthquake has struck off the Cayman Islands, but no damage or injuries have been reported.
The U.S. Geological survey says the quake was centred in the Caribbean Sea about 40 miles (65 kilometres) east-southeast of the capital, George Town. It had a depth of 6 miles (10 kilometres).
The government reports fielding 100 emergency calls from islanders.
Emergency Communications Center manager Brent Finster says some callers evacuated buildings and wondered if it was safe to go back inside.
Tuesday's earthquake slightly disrupted phone service.
