She won't be allowed to promote if she's a judge. When you sign on as a judge you're officially a BBC employee, and as the BBC is funded by tax-payers, it's against the law to promote your own material on there for personal gain. For example when Kylie was a judge, she wasn't allowed to promote Kiss Me Once. They let her perform Into The Blue with one of the contestants though, but not solo (it was part of the competition, and they weren't allowed to mention the single or album). I guess it's better than nothing, as it raises your public profile, and there's ways to get around it (like performing with someone else).
However ITV recently bought the production company behind The Voice, so it might move channels.
It's growing in popularity every year (Kylie helped bring it back from a ratings dip in the previous season). So Paloma might be joining at a good time, with the new owners should come big promotion.
