Melissa Rivers to take over for Mom on "Fashion Police"
Melissa Rivers is refusing to let her late mom Joan River’s beloved show Fashion Police fade away — and she knows just the person to save it!
“Melissa is saying that she is going to host the show. No one understands the show more than she does and this is what her mother would want,” a pal tells Naughty Gossip.
The popular E! program went into meltdown after Joan died during surgery last year, and its demise seemed near after several scandals erupted, including Giuliana Rancic‘s tasteless comments about Zendaya Coleman‘s dreadlocks and Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin‘s subsequent departures.
“Kathy Griffin quit after just seven episodes and slammed the entire concept of mocking celebrity fashions on her way,” says the friend. “Melissa will never forgive her for that.”
“She now see’s it as part of her mother’s legacy to see that the show survives,” another source told the website. “Many think that the show is not salvageable. But Melissa is trying to convince the network that all will be great again if she becomes one of the hosts.”
As RadarOnline.com reported, Rancic recently insisted she would be on hand when Fashion Police returns to the air in September.
“I think more than ever, [Fashion Police] is definitely coming back, because [the controversy] shows that a lot of people were watching the show and enjoyed the show. So yeah, it’s coming back in September, in time for the Emmys,” she said in an interview. “I will be on the show, Brad Goreski will be on the show, and now they just have to fill the other seats.”
They shouldn't cancel this show, its hilarious. It was doing fine until Zendayagate, Kathy was funny in her own way and the new guy they got was better than the original male designer they had. Once Kathy quit it became a sinking ship, but Melissa isnt funny in the way that the show needs

Bad idea. The show is linked to Joan's humor. Joan spent her entire career fostering the relationship of her comedy with the public. That's why it worked. You have to work to get to a place where you can say things like that and have it not blow up into something crazy.
But without the Osbourne girl, the show should get more credibility when it comes to fashion and looks. I mean if there was ever a pot calling the kettle unfashionable situation it was that
Ugh. I wish it was less about irrelevant D-list celebrities trying to be sassy comedians and more about actually critiquing fashion. I would much rather watch a panel that had Anna Dello Russo, Anna Wintour, Andre Leon Talley, Naomi Campbell and Emmanuelle Alt. Of course a panel like that wouldn't do an E! show. They'd only do something if it was on HBO or something.
