News: Teen committs suicide after public shaming by father

Public shaming is just bullying your own kid. There are other effective ways to discipline them, without scaring them mentally or physically. Bet the father feels bad now. Poor girl

AS I SAID, she was already bullied in school for years before. The middle school years are the hardest to make it through.

"Facebook posts by her classmates and staff at the school suggest this was ongoing. The dad smashed her guitar in the past as punishment. After this hair-cutting thing, he also is said to have forced her to dress as a boy to school. Later, during a student assembly for student council, he had the principal announce that his daughter would be disqualified specifically because she had disobeyed her father.

According to another student, he pulled her out of class and she was wailing and was pleading with him about something and he told her to wait in the hallway. Another teacher says she was visibly upset and crying in class around that time. It was a pretty rough time I would guess and it culminated in this. It's a little deeper than a mere haircut and it hasn't been reported yet but that's what I keep reading from people in Tacoma."

Her father didn't upload the video. Some other assholes did it he didn't mean for this to go viral. He is not to blame

What? Her father put it on Instagram. The video wasn't put on YouTube until after she already committed suicide to expose that awful method of punishment.

Not really. Emotional pain is relative. Just because someone's rich or belongs to a well off family doesn't mean they can't be unhappy.

It's already known that men successfully commit suicide more than women because men take more deadly/lethal approaches. As far as race, do some research of your own. Start here.

You can't just say "black people go HAM on their children and they survive, why are whites so dramatic?". If a child has been raised in an abusive household all their life, they wouldn't be likely to try committing suicide unless it went a step too far. In this girl's case, her father went a step too far. Add that to being an already bullied middle schooler and you don't have a good situation.

Well first of all, not all children are the same. As a parent you definitely need to be aware of that. There's really no need to compare any race in this honestly because this has to do with a much deeper subject than that, and sadly I think there was more to it than just the public shaming. She clearly needed help. It's fine and dandy to be ignorant and have questions, but it's the way you approach those questions that count.
