Ashanti's fifth studio album due out later this year
Ashanti told fans via twitter (http://twitter.com/AshantiThisIsMe) that her new album will be dropping later this year. Necole Bitchie is also reporting that the new album will be released independently via her own label 'Written Entertainment'
Singer Ashanti was spotted at CAIN Nightclub in New York just before New Years at a party thrown by “Presidential Dymes”. The group, co-founded by her little sister, is for young black socialites living in New York.
I’m told Ashanti just shot her album artwork over in Paris with fame photographer Alix Malka and she’s going for a whole new look. Her new album will be pushed through her own company Written Entertainment which means she may opt to release her future projects independently.

Yesssssssss Only U is epic
Hm, I dont know anymore if The Declaration Booklet includes the lyrics...I have the Album, but I'm not at home right now...
"The Way That I Love You" should have been huge tho..
I just hope it won't be anything like 'Concrete Rose' (the only good songs were 'Only U', 'Focus' and 'Turn It Up'), that was her worst album by far (excluding the Xmas one).
The rest were perfection!
Ashanti is most famous for her eponymous Grammy Award-winning debut album Ashanti which featured the hit song "Foolish", and sold over 503,000 copies in its first week of release in the U.S. in April 2002. The album set a Soundscan record as the biggest opening week sales for a new female artist. In the same week, she became the first female performer to simultaneously hold the top two places on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart with "Foolish", and "What's Luv?" (with Fat Joe).
Ashanti broke records again by having three top ten songs, "Foolish", "What's Luv?", and "Always on Time", on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in the same week, being the first female to accomplish this feat and being second only to The Beatles.
Ashanti ended the decade (2000-09) as the third top new R&B artist behind Alicia Keys and Beyonce Knowles.
