So, unfortunately for all those (myself included) who were excited about last week's report that Adele is behind the theme for the twenty-fourth James Bond film, Spectre, it was simply a rumor. Roger Friedman from Showbiz 411, also one of the first to confirm that Adele was behind "Skyfall," confirmed that Adele was planning a fall release for her third album and consequentially turned down the offer to record a second Bond theme. He also hinted that Sam Smith may be behind it, as he was the Bond producers' top choice after Adele:
I am currently trying to get in contact with him to confirm this information so I can post it on my Adele site, but as of right now, it sounds like she is not getting involved in order to focus on destroying your faves' careers again.

I agree that Sam Smith needs to stay away from it. His voice would be awful for a Bond theme. Adele was really the only person I wanted to do it, but now that she's not, I really want to see Paloma Faith do it. Her voice would be perfect for it.
Yeah, as of like, two months ago, she's still working on it. I just hope it doesn't get to the point where she's never satisfied with it.

I agree 100% about Paloma. She'd honestly be PERFECT for a Bond film! And it might get her name out there more. I wish more people knew about her because she's so talented!
Yeah, she basically confirmed it was supposed to come out last year, and then the Sony leaks further confirmed that she planned on releasing last year, but it was postponed. It's been reported several times that the album is due out in the fall, but Roger Friedman is usually pretty accurate, and I think Adele knows she can't delay it much longer, so my guess would be that she'll release it in the fall.

I mean that was obvious Bond films don't double dip

The Adele story was blatantly fake. It's more than likely Sam Smith; there's not any other big name that really makes sense for Bond right now, and they usually pick artists with global recognition. Plus to go with him after Skyfall's success is a no-brainer.
