Carly Rae Jepsen praised by critics again!
After being incridibly praised with "I Really Like You" and "All That", Carly is being praised by critics again with the title track from her new album E•MO•TION (it wasn't even officialy released, only in Japan).
Entertainment Weekly
Quote:
Carly Rae Jepsen’s new track is an ‘emotional’ summer hit
The heated track is an ’80s-influenced flip-off to a jilted lover. “Drink tequila for me babe,” she sings. “Let it hit you cool and hot. Let your feelings be revealing that you can’t forget me not.” With songs like this, no we will not.

The Canadian pop singer delivers another catchy summer tune
The album’s title track, which follows the singles “I Really Like You” and “All That,” sticks with the bouncing synth-pop formula that’s worked so well for Jepsen in the past. With a chorus that’s ever-so-faintly reminiscent of Jennifer Lopez’s “Waiting for Tonight,” the song gradually develops from an innocent “crushing hard” vibe into the realm of more mature, desirous fantasy.

Hear Carly Rae Jepsen's Killer New Song
Like so many of Carly's songs about love and lust, she immediately asserts control: "Be tormented by me, babe," she sings in its opening line. "Drink tequila for me, babe," she taunts a few lines later. It's a beguiling kiss-off to an undeserving lover, dressed up as an '80s power-pop fever-dream. (She's leaning on that decade in particular for the direction of this next album.) But if whichever lover who burned her isn't listening, we all should be. As much as "Emotion" paints a target on the back of her ex, it does the same for anyone reluctant to take her work seriously. "[I'm] not a flower on the wall," she warns. This isn't your preteen's pop star, and she's not sorry if you still haven't wised up.

CARLY RAE JEPSEN MAKES US FEEL "E MO TION" FOR THE FIRST TIME
We'll be the first to say how disappointed we are with humanity's treatment of Canadian pop-star, Carly Rae Jepsen. She gave us the infectiously hook-y banger “I Really Like You” (with Tom goddamn-Oscar-winning Hanks in the video), the sultry Dev Hynes/Ariel Rechtshaid super collaboration “All That,” and still no one shows her the love she so greatly deserves on the Billboard charts. But Carly is a fighter, Carly is passionate, and for her new track Carly has “E•MO•TION.” Off her upcoming sophomore album of the same name due out on June 23, the track is another bubblegum love affair sprinkled with stained chords, a hint of what sounds like Hynes’ floaty guitar strings and Jepsen’s singing wistfully about “fantasies dreaming about me” and we feel it. It makes us feel all sorts of emotions: happy, dance-y, hangry—sometimes more than one at the same time. Hangry is an emotion, right?

Not half bad! Again, not a huge departure for the 80’s leaning pop star, but it’s another strong effort from one of the most underrated chicks on the scene right now. Channeling a bit of Prince and a Robyn-lite sound, Carly sings about the best thing she knows about on ‘E-MO-TION’…and that’s love! Woooo-eeee. We’re in for a hell of an album, don’t you think?

“E·MO·TION”: Carly Rae Jepsen Demands Your Full Attention, Babe
“E·MO·TION” is a blissful, ’80s-tinged rush of Jepper’s signature swooning, full of tequila and kisses and confident/vaguely threatening demands for your undivided attention. Carly’s way more aggressive in her come-on game this time around — there’s no “Maybe” about this one.
“In your fantasy, dream about me and all that we could do with this emotion…” Like the best of Carly, the song is impeccably produced and filled with sweet, earnest hooks. “In your head and I won’t stop…” Gulp! Her evil plan is working. Also, lots of “babe” and “boy” — always a plus in my book.

Being the Most Underrated Pop Queen in Herstory is quite a title to live up to, but she continues to prove its truth.
Jepsen unveiled the title track yesterday, and it just goes to show why she's underrated. It's clear that this album is completely inspired by the '80s, and 'E·MO·TION' perfectly captures that sound. Upbeat and bouncy, the song sees Jepsen gently cooing across the verses before she lights up on the verses. "In your fantasy, dream about me / And all that we could do with this emotion," she exclaims as the song scorches once it hits the chorus. It's glitzy, campy '80s fun and paired with 'I Really Like You' there's no doubt E·MO·TION will be the best album of the year.

Hear Carly Rae Jepsen’s Sugary-Sweet ‘E.MO.TION’
The title track from Carly Rae Jepsen‘s upcoming E.MO.TION album has surfaced and — like “Call Me Maybe” and “I Really Like You” — it’s a fizzy, sugar-water-sweet ode to the power of a crush. But you don’t seek out Carly for pensive goth anthems, do you?

All rhythm-of-the-night keys and lovelorn lyrics, the release of the album's title track "E•MO•TION" drives Carly's new sound deep in the 80's with the new album shaping up to follow suit.

hear carly rae jepsen's addictive new song "emotion"
Someone must have told Carly Rae Jepsen that it's almost summer, because she just released a new track that is so obviously meant for a) convertibles, b) pool parties, and c) every other summer-related activity. "E•MO•TION" further cements Jepsen as the ascending queen of shimmering, '80s-inspired sounds—a pro at crafting songs about heartbreak and longing into bright pop confections.

Canadian pop star Carly Rae Jepsen has been hard at work lately on an intriguing new album called E•MO•TION, and the two songs we’ve already heard — the glittering pop confection “I Really Like You” and the Dev Hynes/Ariel Rechtshaid collab “All That” — have both been great
It leans closer to the burnished mall-pop of “I Really Like You” than the blurry warmth of “All That,” but it’s really good burnished mall-pop.

The song isn't quite as joyous as "I Really Like You," but it's significantly more upbeat than "All That." It begins with keyboard stabs that bear a passing similarity to her career-making hit "Call Me Maybe," but the song takes on its own identity once the danceable beat enters. The chorus sounds like it could have been an '80s pop hit, and it's catchy enough to hold up against Jepsen's best.

Admittedly, the song doesn’t stray too far from the sugary sweet sound of the singer’s 2012 major label debut, Kiss, but if you ask me, that’s not a bad thing. After all, Kiss is one of my favorite pop albums of all time! I think “Emotion” is the perfect embodiment of Jepsen’s signature style: it’s bouncy, it’s infectious, and its lyrics, which find the 29-year-old artist singing to a former flame, pack an emotional punch. (Get it? They pack an emotional punch? Yup, I’m done.)
