At WWDC in one week, Apple is expected to formally announce a new on-demand streaming subscription service that will take on the likes of Spotify for $10 per month, while the existing iTunes Radio service will gain new channels hosted by human DJs.

The new streaming subscription service is not expected to replace Beats Music at first, the report said. Instead, Apple is expected to keep Beats Music separate for a time, before eventually migrating those users to the new unified service, giving the company time to work out "any kinks" that may exist.

How do they expect to get people to switch from spotify?

I'm perched for the "dozens of pages of people being mad" at Apple for not offering a free version.

Not sure if even I would switch to that, I basically live off of Spotify's $0.99 for 3 months deals although if the 3 month free trial rumor is true for Apple's service, I think I could afford that

Most people already have iTunes for their iPhones so they'll just have to update as they usually do. No need to register for something else or download an extra program

And I will still stay with Spotify

I'm an Apple fan boy and this is the first service I don't wanna buy from them.

It's not free, so even though it'll be on your phone through the music app you still have to subscribe (which is what the guy meant since spotify "currently" still offers a free tier)

I'll use the free trial period then go back to Spotify

I'll probably use the trail period but I love Spotify too much.

Will they have student discount?

By this time next year, Spotify won't have a free tier

I might switch.

The one thing I hate about Spotify is that I can't get me an iPod Nano to use for working out, since you can't download Spotify there. I hate running with a giant 6+ strapped to me.

If new iPod Nano's will be able to use this service, then I'm sold.
