Chi-town is a great city and holds its own, but NYC is NYC. Chicago is like a smaller all American NYC. The poor mans NYC (although that's not really a knock).

What do you mean by authentic?
& I've never been to Chicago, but NYC is so cayuteee. I want to live there and be broke there for a summer.
Chicago is like a mini-NYC. Like no wonder they call it the 2nd city because that's what it feels like to me. Anyway, it can still hold its own against NYC so I don't like the comparisons!
1. Chicago has its own uniquely original culture.
2. Chicago has an amazing, affordable, authentic restaurant scene. 3. New York is dirty. Chicago actually has alleys. In those alleys, we keep our trash. New York City just throws its garbage out front to inhabit the sidewalks with its filthy sidewalks. Lucky for NYC's visitors, its unnoticeable because your household garbage and NYC residents are indistinguishable.

8. Chicago pizza! 9. ABOVE GROUND public transportation system. New York's subways are smelly and have no means of airing themselves out. Ya'll can commute to your bougie jobs in the muck and filth of NYC's underground while we sit pretty above ground enjoying the view and our smartphones because we can actually catch some service on the trains.
10. The Chicago flag. Cute as ****. 11. BATMAN. Gotham City = Chicago. 12. Chicago hipsters are less obnoxious and more authentic than NYC hipsters.

17. Chicago is more affordable. Still expensive, but still more affordable.
18. We taught the SNL cast to be funny at Second City before they made it big to go to New York.

NYC was underwhelming when I visited. I thought it was going to be this amazing city and it was just meh. Overpriced crowded and just alright. Times Square is cute but other than that. Chicago >>>
