I am thinking of where I would like to live in the future and both the West Coast and the Northeast are known for their amazing cities:

West Coast: Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, San Jose, LA (eh, have heard more negatives than positives but it's the most iconic), Vegas, and San Diego.

Northeast: New York City, Boston, Philadelphia

I just like the proximity of them, I feel like major Midwestern and Southern cities are so far from each other.

Anyway, which do you like better? People who have visited both or have lived in both, what do you think?

If the Northeast had the West Coast's weather it'd win. But its even tbh.

Voted NE cause I'm from there.

NYC and LA should swap climates tbh because then New York would be absolutely perfect.

West Coast is better in everything. I wouldn't mind living in any of the West Coast cities. I only use NYC on the NE

My clearly unbiased () vote goes to the Northeast.

I've been to every single one of the cities OP mentioned except San Diego, and here are my brief opinions on each:

Seattle: Very friendly, seems smaller than it actually is, emphasis on technology.
Portland: Extremely environmentally friendly but small- I think I'd get bored living there.
SF: Best of the bunch. Has a little bit of everything, really. I'd be very happy to live there.
San Jose: Might as well be SF as it's just a drive away.
LA: Is decent. Seems like it's only good if you're somehow involved w/the entertainment industry. Everything is annoyingly far apart.
Vegas: Would never live there. Great weather, but literally nothing to do if you're not a tourist.

And here are my biased opinions on Northeastern cities:

Boston: Amazing.
NYC: Amazing.
Philly: Pretty great.
DC: Amazing.

West Coast by a hair. But it would win by a landslide if the cities were closer together.

I absolutely loved SF when I stayed but San Diego was kinda basic and meh. NYC is insanely exciting, IMO I think it would be great to live NYC/NE coast in my twenties, and then settle down in San Fran.
