#50 - #41
50. 3OH!3 - Starstrukk (Featuring Katy Perry)
Not until this remix did I ever really pay attention to 30H!3. I saw them at Warped Tour and was left with little impression. However, this song and music video (featuring a busty Katy Perry) proved to be something even I could enjoy.
49. Michelle Branch - Sooner Or Later
Back in 2002, nobody had a damn thing on Michelle Branch. She delivered hit after hit and I still blast her debut album quite often. She took a country turn on her comeback, and though it's not as hardhitting as her older stuff, it's still a catchy little number with a cute video.
48. Lights - Saviour
Lights is basically what Owl City strives to be and fails. She is unapologetically catchy and incredibly gorgeous. I met her this year and she was so incredibly sweet and talked to me for quite a bit. This song isn't even the standout on her album (that would be "Pretend (Reprise)"). However, it led the album well with it's creative video and catchy chorus.
47. Keri Hilson - Knock U Down (Featuring Ne-Yo & Kanye West)
After about 500 singles, Keri finally managed to hit it big with this mid-tempo R&B song. She looks super hot in the video and her verses are by far the best in the song. Her album is overflowing with featured artists (However I prefer her solo, like on the underrated "Energy"). This song dominated radio for a good reason, it's super catchy.
46. Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling
Rarely do the Black Eyed Peas release a single that I do not LOATHE after various listens. ("Boom Boom Pow" could put me on suicide watch.) However, in 2009, they also managed to rule the charts with a song that I still enjoy. (Though not as much as say "Shut Up"). It had a fun party video and a great chorus. However, Fergie, you need to go solo again.
45. Leona Lewis - Happy
The smash hit that never was. How did "Happy" not reach the levels of "Bleeding Love"? Hell, even "Better In Time" did better. It had flawless and emotional vocals, an amazing love-story video (with a twist ending to boot) and a pretty good promotional campaign. Leona won me over with this song. Too bad America didn't jump on the bandwagon.
44. Shakira - Did It Again
"She Wolf" was fun. "Give It Up To Me" was nice. However, Shakira truly shined in 2009 with this song. The verses, the chorus, the classic Shakira-vocals, everything was on point. It even had one of the most creative videos of the year. The bed-dance was epic ****. Pop music's most gorgeous star needs to take this one to the top of the US charts and reclaim her throne.
43. Boys Like Girls - Love Drunk
If any band on the pop-punk scene has radio in the palm of it's hand, it's Boys Like Girls. They continue to put out incredibly catchy songs that we simply can't get out of our heads. This one is particularly infectious. The Tisdale-clad video was also a very nice touch.
42. Jordin Sparks - Battlefield
Though her album failed, Jordin Sparks managed to get herself yet another huge hit in 2009 with "Battlefield". It was the best kind of grower, becoming more and more undeniably great with each listen. The video showed Jordin looking *shocker* sexy!? "Go ahead and get your armor!" Belting out that line is easily my guilty pleasure of the year.
41. Priscilla Renea - Dollhouse
From Youtube-sensation to bonifide pop star? Well, maybe not yet. However, Priscilla did manage to get herself a minor radio hit with "Dollhouse" this year. The colorful video and "Hot N Cold-like" beat made this quite the guilty pleasure. Had she promoted a little harder, I could have seen this easily going Top 20. Hopefully it's not the last we hear of Priscilla, because she seems to know what she's doing.

Chad, you're forgetting Did It Again's strongest point - THAT BRIDGE.

I also forgot that the "Ay Ay Ay Ay! (uhhh uhhh uhhh uhhh)" is what makes the song.

This was a pretty difficult list to compile, some had to be left behind.

#40 - #31
40. Jay Z - Run This Town (Featuring Rihanna and Kayne West)
Jay Z put out 2 great singles in 2009, however, this one really stuck with me. From Rihanna's sing-along chorus, to Jay Z's kickass verses, to Kanye's now infamous "No Homo" line. This was a triple-match made in Hip Hop heaven.
39. Colbie Cailatt - Falling For You
We can also count on Colbie to bring us a track we can sit on the beach and jam with. Though it initially didn't smash as hard as "Bubbly" did, this song managed to have quite a big amount of staying power. A great feel-good track.
38. 30 Seconds To Mars - Kings and Queens
Though not as epic as "From Yesterday", Jared Leto's band did try to make it such. This song grew on me over time and had an awesome mini-movie video to go along with it. Oh yeah, and Mr. Leto looks a lot better without that swoopy emo hair and overload of eyeliner.
37. Mariah Carey - Obsessed
I predicted this would be the summer smash of 2009... Whoops. Mimi came hard on this track, a song that may or may not be a big **** YOU to Eminem. Everything about this song was on point. However bad promotion and a lackluster video ended up hurting it in the long run.
36. Orianthi - According To You
Look out Veronicas, there's a new Aussie in town. The former Jackson-guitarist burst onto the scene with one of the year's best breakup anthems. However, what sets her apart from the rest is her amazing ability to rock out on the guitar while sporting electric blue nail-polish. I hope to see a lot more of this girl in 2010. Don't let me down!
35. Ashley Tisdale - It's Alright, It's Okay
Guilty pleasure of the year. The Tiz left her Disney image behind, sporting dark hair, some ****ty garb, and belting out this years "Since U Been Gone". The sound of Ashley's sophomore album proves she's been taking cues from Katy Perry. It surprisingly works for her. Her voice comes off a lot less grating on the pop-rock stuff. Not to mention she was SMOKING in this video.
34. Allison Iraheta - Friday I'll Be Over U
The only Idol I gave a damn about in 2009 was Allison Iraheta... and she sure didn't disappoint. This track blasts in like Kelly Clarkson on crack with a chorus so catchy it'll make your head spin. How US radio managed to ignore it is far beyond my comprehension level. She also managed to put out quite possibly the best Idol debut... erm, ever.
33. Kelly Rowland & David Guetta - When Love Takes Over
Miss Kelly got herself a worldwide smash. Who'd a thunk it? Though far form the best song she's done, Kelly proved to be right at home in the dance-pop genre. She looked absolutely gorgeous in the music video and rightfully solidified herself as a force to be reckoned with. David Guetta did a great job in constructing one of the years best dance tracks.
32. Little Boots - New In Town
Every year, the UK spawns some of the best female artists out there today. 2009 was no exception. Clad with blonde hair and a quirky name, Little Boots brought the heat with this dance song. The chorus is a standout and definitely deserves some American recognition.
31. Hey Monday - How You Love Me Now
Often called a Paramore-ripoff. However, that is completely inaccurate. Why? Just because they both have a female singer. If anything, Hey Monday is like a female fronted version of All Time Low. Their debut album was loaded with ridiculously catchy pop-punk anthems. The best of which was released as their second single. "How You Love Me Now" grabs you from the start with it's "whoa whoas" and busts into what is easily the best rock-chorus of the year.
