I had a friend on there that I met thru the chats, and we would spend literally everyday on there for nearly 3 years until he left a cryptic message about him going away for awhile and for me to take care. Since then, I never heard from him again.

I know, it's so weird because there was no Facebook back then or it wasn't so popular. So your friendship ended on YM and when they were gone, they were gone. I used to wake up every morning and run to our big ass PC to chat with my pen pals.
Especially the user created rooms. Lol. They were so messy, and I loved hearing other people roast each other on the microphones. There was sooo much mess!!
