Hunt's interview with a fan was cut short after a man yelled out the vulgar phrase and unlike the many other instances in which this has happened, the reporter didn't decide to call it a day, apologize to the studio and head home.
Instead, Hunt confronted her offender and got into an argument with a man later identified as Shawn Simoes as he defended the hooliganism and laughed it off to her face, even claiming his mother would be proud of him for it.
It seems his high paying employers, Hydro One, were not so thrilled with Simoes as he was fired from his $100,000 a year job.
"Respect for all people is engrained in the Code of Conduct and in our Core Values and we are committed to a work environment where discrimination or harassment of any type is met with zero tolerance," Hydro One officials told the Toronto Star according to the Huffington Post.
Simoes can be seen laughing at Hunt in the video as she tells the man off for his 'disrespectful' behavior.
"I don't care, it's f***ing hilarious," Simoes said.
"It is f***ing hilarious, we're not the only people, it happened in England,"
"You're lucky there's not a f***ing vibrator near here, because in England, it happened all the time, it's f***ing amazing and I respect it all the time."
When asked what his mother would think of it, Simoes optimistically said, "Oh my mom would die laughing eventually."
Actually, the '**** her right in the *****' (FHRITP) comment is an ongoing joke that people (both male and female) make to online reporters. Watch this video. It's pretty hilarious but something like this was bound to happen at any time if someone isn't aware of the joke.
This needs to happen more. I'm so ****ing sick of these GROWN ASS MEN who think they are ENTITLED to things and are allowed to be disrespectful to other people and then not even have the decency to apologize.

honestly...if you're in a 6 figure paying job...you shouldn't be making these type of jokes
you're probably too old for it anyways
This is AP. And as I said in the other thread, why's she making such a big deal? That's what they want. Ignore it and move on. It's just a funny and popular internet joke played on reporters around the world.
Good for her. These ****ers don't deserve to be in an engineering position like that and glad they get their punishment. Don't act like a dickhead to people trying to do their jobs. Make an example of people doing these things, what you say can come to bite you in the ass. Keep your rude comments to yourself.

I'm against disrespecting people and such behaviors but this is an ongoing joke. It's not that serious, and not meant to be offensive. It's just for fun. Watch the video I have shared.
I understand the female reporter's reaction and I sympathize with her because I can tell she is clueless about the joke. But I don't think people should get fired if they do something ridiculous off work-hours.

The guy who got fired didn't say the comment, but he tried to defend this stupid behavior. It's a joke, but then trying to defend it and saying that their mothers would laugh right along with him when the reporter is trying vent her frustrations at people making her life difficult in THE PUBLIC EYE can be grounds for firing.
Companies fire people all the time for little to no reason, he'll probably get some other job and move on. Don't act like a douchebag in front of broadcast television with no disguise as it looks bad for the company from a PR standpoint.

He didn't say anything wrong though. He basically said it happens in England all the time, and indeed this is an international joke on reporters. She asked what his mother would think of that, and he said she would laugh as well. I think people are misunderstanding this as a disrespectful act against women, when it is far from that. He is saying the joke is hilarious, not disrespecting women. Like I said, people who aren't aware of the joke would indeed get riled up.

Unfortunately, perception is reality. Whether or not it's sexist or whatever, it doesn't matter because ultimately nothing good is going to come out of it. He could've just walked away after the incident, but he tried to defend just basically being an asshole. The company had no choice but to fire him (and look like a socially responsible company) or keep him (thus losing pr points and making people hate that particular company).
Ultimately, it was his decision to join in the douchebag antics. Actions, shockingly, have consequences.

His mistake was that he could have explained that it was a joke and he didn't. But I don't think that he said anything wrong. He honestly answered the reporter's questions. It's hilarious (his opinion). Happens abroad all the time (fact). His mother would laugh at that joke as well (he would know). He didn't call the reporter any derogatory terms or hit her or anything. They were a bunch of guys at a celebration, possibly drunk, making a joke. I don't think it's that serious but unfortunately society isn't chill.
