Hi everyone I'm not trolling or anything I'm just curious....
I went to a christening 2 weeks ago ( I don't usually go church at all think it's the 3rd/4th time in my life and when I was leaving the church the pastor was outside begging for money/donations.. I was surprised at this so I did my research and apparently according to many different religions "money is the root of evil" e.t.c
I was just wondering why do multiple religions state that money is evil then beg for people to give them money in a church? Not sure if this happens in other places (I'm from UK)
well money is not evil its the root* of all evil thats the difference because most bad things that happen are because of peoples greed
why they would beg for it idk i guess the church is going through financial troubles? they don't get government funding so they can only be as good as the people who invest in them. its kinda awkward to do that tho while people are leaving...idk why they wouldn't just have an offering call for donations like most churches do during their services

Oh.. okay, is there any proof where the money is going like how do we know it's not for personal gain?
They are always building homes for poor people here in my country, not sure how can you see any proof in yours. Maybe if you ask them what exactly are they doing with that money?
true, ive never owned a building but i'd assume property tax is not nearly as expensive as furnishing, cleaning, landscaping, repairs, funding missons trips and outreach programs etc etc etc.

The Economist had a 2010 report on American Catholic Church spending and 90% of its money are used in funding healthcare, education and charity activities with only 10% used in Church maintenance and operations. Little is known about the Catholic Church's finances outside America, though.
