Nathan Sykes wrote about Ariana Grande for his solo album
he didn't mention her name though

For a track on his upcoming solo album, Nathan Sykes of The Wanted was inspired by his breakup with Grande, whom he dated in 2013.
"I think it's very easy to draw from personal experiences," Sykes told MTV News. "I'm not very good at talking -- I just waffle on -- so when I write lyrics I very much say what I'm actually feeling. I wrote about a couple of various relationships, a couple of near-relationships, a couple of people that just needed writing about."
"It's not really that heartbreaking -- it's very emotional. It's just a very nice breakup song," he shared about the Grande-inspired track. "I'm one of those really annoying people who never holds grudges [against] anyone, because what's the point? There's no point. It's really boring and it takes up so much energy -- just draining. So it's an nice breakup song, but really emotional."

With regards to the songs on his upcoming album, Sykes said there's a mix of upbeat singles and slower ballads, one of which he wrote about his relationship with ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande.
"With the happy songs, they're very upbeat, quite playful and really lighthearted…but the ballads are a bit more emotional and they go quite deep," she said. "I poured my heart out a tiny bit in a couple of the songs, but yeah, that's a relationship [with Grande] that happened in my life and as a writer who draws from personal relationships and experiences, I think it's just natural that there's a song that fits that time in my life."
