Alyssa Milano has criticised new reality television show Jersey Shore.
The MTV programme has attracted controversy recently for its portrayal of Italian-Americans, with some groups claiming that it relies on stereotypes.
"My husband actually showed me the trailer on YouTube last night and I got upset," Milano told Us Weekly. "It upset me. I was like, 'Turn that off!' So no, I don't think I'll be watching that."
MTV's president of programming Tony DiSanto recently defended the show, adding that people would grow to love it.
I agree This show is getting too much hype because of the controversy behind it.
Every group of people gets shown in a not so good light on television. I ****ing love the show. Perfect timing since Housewives of ATL isn't on anymore. Need that good dose of drama!
Im from New Jersey and I happen to love it. There are not representing the whole state of New Jersey. Alot of those guys arent from here there are just here for the summer. People need to relax and just watch it.
I am originally from NJ however dont live there anymore and I am offended by the show. Because of the fact that people from NJ are only portrayed on TV as being either Trashy, Mobsters (i.e. Sopranos) and Guidos (i.e. this show). Granted there are poeple who fit that mold but they are from North Jersey and NY (Staten Island in particuar)..
I don't like the show either; the fact that it gives Jerseyans a bad rep when really, all but 2 on the cast are Staten Island "bennies" that come down in the summer to party in Seaside & Wildwood. It's fake, like all MTV shows. So hopefully viewers won't be stereotyping anyone they meet from Jersey.
