Pretty hot topic. What do you think? I think stuff like the reproductive organs and such should be taught in second or third grade and heterosexual/transgender/gender identity/homosexual lessons should be taught in fourth grade. Then in sixth grade stuff like AIDS/HIV can be taught since in Elementary School I went to sixth grade.

To translate this into UK terms, what age group is this?

Yes. Sex ed — both hetero and homo — should be taught from as early as possible, then the subject maybe wouldn't feel so taboo, young people wouldn't be willing to 'explore' it and the teenage pregnancy rate would drop.

I wasn't taught sex education until middle school, but I would've appreciated having been taught some of the stuff earlier on. I was so lacking in knowledge before then.

At earliest I'd say 5th grade. And that's really early for me. Let kids be kids and they shouldn't have to worry about stds and pregnancy at 10

In that case, absolutely. In countries like Sweden, sex ed is taught from as young as 7 years of age. I think it should be taught as sex ed, and not reproduction. I think it is important to teach children realistic ideas about sex; people have sex for fun and to have babies. Having an open attitude towards sex makes it a lot less taboo, and kids will feel much less ashamed to ask questions, the answers of which may prevent them from serious mistakes in the future...

Most kids start having sex at the age of 12. Better early than never, but I respect your viewpoints.

12?! I'm 16 and I'm still a virgin. (Hopefully not for long tho sis)
In that case I change my mind 3-4th grade is a good time to start.

I do think that homosexuality and gender identity/transgender topics should be discussed early as possible though.

I think from a young age they should learn about sexual organs and hetero/homo/trans lifestyles in order to reduce the taboo on sexuality and sex in general; it's a natural thing. Then as they get older (10/11) they should be taught about pregnancies and STDs

Well in my K-12 I was never taught, so.

From age 11.

It should be taught regardless.

But they also need to spend time teaching the teachers on how to approach the subject and make sure they have factual information.
My school seemed so casual and hardly delved into the subject, which looking back could have been quite harmful
