The Riot at the Columbine mine - was not a riot it was a strike by miners for the city to reopen the mine. It was not violent until one police man struck a man during the argument and then fired rounds
Boston Tea Party - was a protest not a riot and no one was harm, it was a political protest to lower taxes
The Boston Bread Riot - people were starving and the government was increasing food prices. A couple black kids dying by negligent officers does not equal an entire population starving to death. People were breaking into food factories, they werent being destructive just because
The Doctors Riot of 1788 - Was a riot point blank. However a law passed that called for the correct treatment of corpses
Haymarket Riot - One person got numerous people kill. As it said in my research, it was a peaceful protest. Workers had been killed by police but people still protested peaceful until one person ruined it by becoming violent. And guess what the aftermath was? Support for police and all the workers got was a measly holiday.
Stonewall - Was a political riot to get several anti LGBTQIA laws revoked. There were police raids ordered by the government and gay people were arrested for being gay and as being gay was classified as a mental disorder some were place in mental institutions. Black people were never arrested for being black and the US Government isnt ordering police officers to kill black people.
So what do you want the government to do? Pass a law saying black people are exempt from police brutality? Something all races have to deal with? Ferguson was a peaceful protest, Baltimore is not. It is a riot and citing other protests and riots that have happened will not get your point across and only further damaged it since only 3 out of seven contained any violence and all were for political reforms not social. The only possible outcome of this will be more black deaths and a law passed that police officers are mandated to wear body cameras. Protest peacefully and nobody gets killed, get violent and the black community will end up like the workers in the Haymarket riot, aka with nothing
And its sad that you had to demean and trivialize other events in history to push your agenda. How about instead of rioting and telling white people they are inherently racist, cant have opinions, and telling them their "privilege" life is perfect and saying derogatory things towards them, and generalizing white people as a whole. You let them help you. No one is going to help somebody who consistent blames everyone in a category despite not everybody being involved. If black people truly dont have any power in the US, use people who do to get the change you want. By alienating and trivializing white people and making it a black only issue, people are going to view it as a black only issue and not be concerned with it. Then what will you do, riot some more?

Lawrence Textile Riot
Quote:
Word of the strike by the women of the Everett Mill swept through Lawrence’s squalid tenements that night, and the following morning the walkout cascaded through neighboring mills. Even above the looms’ deafening din, the shouts of strikers could be heard: “Short pay! All out! All out!” In spite of arctic temperatures, bad blood boiled over. Knife-wielding strikers overwhelmed security gates and slashed machine belts, threads and cloth. They tore bobbins and shuttles off machines. Through the falling snow, rioting workers shattered windows with bricks and ice, and police beat them back with billy clubs. By the end of January 12, more than 10,000 workers were out on strike.

The Boston Tea Party consisted of LOOTING! And Riots did erupt!

A couple? In this year alone, over 300 black people have been killed by police. And that's just what's been reported. Rioting is rioting. Don’t try and save your white faves now. All those heroic people that you and every other white moderate has glorified for being beacons of truth and justice and grand revolutionaries spent a shitload of time acting like ****ing animals because of their “perceived injustices”.

Look what rioting did. Brought some justice.

Guess what? There are 10,000 people protesting in Baltimore. The majority of the protests are peaceful.

LOL.
So a few quick, quick questions.
Jason Harris was a bipolar, schizophrenic man who was shot five times in his door way within twenty seconds of the police reaching him. He was holding a screwdriver in his hand and twirling it. They won’t face any charges. Oh look, here’s the video link! No charges.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=30&v=cOfJcYUlqjo
Was that reasonably necessary?
Nicholas Taft Thomas tried to escape from the police in his car after they came to his place of work. (Traffic violation. Which wasn’t good because he was on parole.)
They opened fire on him and killed him. Afterwards they said that he had tried to run them down, which is funny because the witnesses immediately came forward to say that they were lying. It also didn’t help that the bullets were on the side of the car, and not the front (he was coming after them remember?). Ongoing investigation by the police department, but we all know how that goes.
Was that reasonably necessary?
Darren Rainey, mentally ill prison inmate who was locked into a scalding hot shower for over an hour where he died, his skin burned to the point that it had shriveled up. No charges.
Was that reasonably necessary?
Ryan James Bruggink broke into a Black woman’s home and raped her while she was in the bed with her baby. Out on bail (surprisingly)
Was that reasonably necessary?
Darrien N. Hunt was walking around with a cosplay sword when police started following him. He started running and they shot him in the back six times? Police said that he was charging them, but video evidence disproved this. Still no charges. (Which is funny considering that it’s actually illegal for police officers to shoot a suspect for just trying to escape. But lol, legal.)
Was that reasonably necessary?
Anthony Hill, naked, mentally ill, crawling around on the ground, charged a police officer when he saw him. The police officer, armed with a taser, shot him twice. No charges.
Was that reasonably necessary?
Howard Morgan, Black off duty cop was driving the wrong way on a one-way street. Pretty unfortunate because he was shot 28 times and left for dead. It’s also worth noting that police had his car compounded before any investigation could go under way. They charged him.
Was that reasonably necessary?
Tarika Wilson and her 14 month old baby. S.W.A.T. team entered her house without warning. They were looking for her boyfriend. In seconds they had killed her and wounded her child. No charges.
Was that reasonably necessary?
John Crawford lived in Ohio, an open carry state. One day he was on the phone with his mom in the toy section at Wal-Mart. He had an air rifle in his hand. His mother says that he suddenly stopped talking at one point and said: “It’s not real!” Then she heard gunshots. He was dead. No charges.
Was that reasonably necessary?
Malissa Williams was riding in a car driven by Timothy Russell. Police “believed that they heard gun shots” coming from the car and chased it for 25 minutes. When they finally cornered the car, thirteen officers fired 137 rounds at the car. Surprise, surprise, the homeless Malissa and Timothy had no weapon on them. Just some cans in the backseat. Only one officer has been indicted for manslaughter.
Was that reasonably necessary?
Floyd Dent was said to have run a stop sign. Behind him, cop lights flashed. He pulled over in a well-lit area. He was dragged out of the car, beaten, and tased. He offered no resistance. But the main cop who was beating the **** out of him had such a violent reputation that he was called “Robocop”. Dent was in the hospital for two days with a fractured left orbital, blood on the brain and four broken ribs. His post-arrest drug test was negative, but a small bag of cocaine was found under his car. Fortunately, all of this was caught on camera, and you can see the ringleader officer taking a small bag out of his pocket. Wonder where that bag went.
Was this reasonably necessary?
Rekia Boyd, 22, was in an alley talking with some friends. Although all of them had their backs turned to police officer Dante Servin, he “felt threatened” because Boyd’s boyfriend (whose back was – again – turned away from the officer) lifted up a cell phone. Which Dante thought could have been a gun. He lifted up his own unregistered weapon, shot Rekia in the back of her ****ing head and blew her ****ing brains out. NOT GUILTY.
Was that reasonably necessary?
Milton Hall, 49, mentally ill, homeless and armed with only a penknife was surrounded by eight officers and shot over 46 times. His lifeless body was dragged around on the ground, handcuffed, and at one point kicked! No charges.
Was that reasonably necessary?
Eric Garner, caught on tape being held in a (prohibited by New York law) chokehold by a police officer. He repeatedly said, “I can’t breathe” but was strangled anyway. No charges. Well, except for the guy who filmed it.
Was that reasonably necessary?
Najee Rivera, beaten like a dog. Officers said that he ran a stop sign and then ran away when they tried to pull him over. He then fell off of his scooter and resisted arrest. Which would have been the official story if Rivera’s girlfriend hadn’t found a surveillance tape that showed the officers running into Rivera, knocking him off of his scooter, and beating the **** out of him. The officers have been charged, but no one is holding their breath.
Was that reasonably necessary?
Aiyana Jones, seven years old. Killed in her sleep when a S.W.A.T. team led by a man who was already known to be a little trigger happy (he had burst into one couple’s home during a raid and immediately killed their two dogs) barged into her house. She was sleeping on the couch. Manslaughter charges dismissed.
Was that reasonably necessary?
Mike Brown, shot at least six times by an officer who has changed his story several times. It’s pretty funny because Mike was about 6’4 tall; Darren Wilson is the exact same sight and somehow managed to shoot him in the head…from above. Despite the fact that at least six witnesses have have said that Mike Brown was on his knees when he was shot, Darren Wilson is a free (and now incredibly wealthy) public speaker.
Was that reasonably necessary?
Walter Scott, shot five to eight times in the back when he was running away. The police officer who killed him planted a taser on his body and he, with the support of his department, released a statement with the usual “I feared for my life, he attacked/threatened me/etc”. This would have been the official story if someone who had filmed the entire thing had not come forward afterwards. Charges have been filed. We’ll be fortunate if there’s a conviction.
Was that reasonably necessary?
Martese Johnson had his face shoved into a brick wall. Police beat the **** out of him, and arrested him. They said that it was because he was using a fake ID to acquire alcohol. Only problem is that the ID he was using was real.
Was this reasonably necessary?
A homeless man referred to as Africa was tasered and several officers piled on top of him and pinned him to the ground. Shot five times in the back. No charges.
Was that reasonably necessary?
Brandon Dawson didn’t resist arrest but he was, tasered, beaten, had his baby taken from him, shaken, and then put on the sidewalk like it was a newspaper. No charges.
Was that reasonably necessary?
Phillip White was beaten to the ground, handcuffed, and then mauled to death by police dogs. It’s on video!
Was that reasonably necessary?
Sonya Mimminger, hog tied and then literally dragged along on the ground by police officers. All on video! They got a written reprimand!
Was that reasonably necessary?
What about Javier Payne? Fourteen year old boy who got into a fight with another one? He was thrown through a window and had his lung punctured! Then handcuffed! And then the officer who did it initially refused to call an ambulance! And when he finally did, he put in the protocol for a drunk adult, not a child! He initially refused to let paramedics uncuff him because he was “faking it” and even if he wasn’t, he assured them that he deserved to die for getting into a fight!
Was that reasonably necessary?
THROWBACK TIME! See, all of the above examples are from about 2005 and onwards, most happening in the last few years or months. But let’s feature a special one, shall we?
Konerak Sinthasomphone, fourteen years old, managed to escape Jeffrey Dahmer after he was raped. He was stumbling down the road bleeding. Dahmer soon appeared, and the police officers – John Balcerzak and Joseph Gabrish – made a few homophobic comments before they handed the kid over. He was killed right after. John and Joseph were fired, but – here’s the kicker! They appealed, were rehired, and received $65,000 in backpay! John Balcerzak later became the president of the Milwaukee Police Association 2005 – 2009!
Was that reasonably necessary?
Tamir Rice, twelve years old! Was swinging in a park! Had a toy gun with him! Police got a call about someone who was “probably juvenile” was pointing at people with a gun that was “probably fake”. Police pulled up and shot him literally within seconds! Seconds!
Was that reasonably necessary?
Akai Gurley, entered a stairway and was shot dead. It was just wrong time, wrong place for him, I guess, huh. Charges filed, and the man who killed him will probably actually be convicted considering that he’s Asian.
Was that reasonably necessary?
Dymond Milburn was a 12 year old girl waiting outside of a house for her parents. A van with plainclothes officers, saw her, immediately thought that she was a sex worker(?), and jumped out of the van with the intentions of kidnapping her. They yelled at her: “You’re a pr*stitute, you’re coming with me!” She started screaming for her dad and hugged her arms around a tree so that they couldn’t take her away. They beat her repeatedly about the arms, neck, and head. When her father came out and said that she was twelve, one of them responded with: “I don’t care if she’s twenty-two, thirty-two, or forty-six.” They dragged her into a van and then, realizing that they could no longer get away with the kidnapping, drove her to the hospital. Her injuries included:
· Injuries from multiple blows to the head, face, neck, lower back, left shoulder, and left hip/waist area.
· A contusion to the back of the head (where she was struck with a flashlight)
· There were abrasions on her arm and wrist.
· Her throat was swollen; she had difficulty swallowing, nausea and vomiting, and hoarseness of voice due to being struck in the throat.
· Black eyes, scalp lacerations, tenderness of the vertebrae.
· Double vision and loss of hearing.
· Blood in ear, bruised nasal septum, bloody nose
· (later on) PTSD
But that’s not all! When she got better, police officers showed up to her middle school and charged her with assaulting police officers! She was tried twice! There were three mistrials! This lasted three years before the case was dropped! None of the officers were punished!
But you know what! Maybe we’re imagining things! Maybe we’re just overreacting!
Maybe Victor White really did kill himself while he was handcuffed in the back of a police car!
Maybe all those cops in Ferguson who responded to the initially peaceful protests by tear gassing children and holding hostages and taking off their badges (illegal) and shooting that pregnant woman in what used to be her eye with that beanbag round was just a coincidence!
Maybe it was a coincidence that Tyeesha Mobley called the police to help teach her son a lesson about stealing, and was arrested instead!
Maybe it was a coincidence that they took her children away from her for four months!
Maybe it was a coincidence that siixteen year old Kalief Browder, falsely accused of stealing a backpack, spent three years in Rikers, two of which were spent in solitary confinement!
Maybe it was a coincidence that he never got a trial in that entire time!
Maybe it was a coincidence that he was pressured to plead ‘guilty’ the entire time!
Maybe it was a coincidence that the only reason he was freed is because the case was dismissed (he was innocent)!
Maybe we’re imagining the prison industrial complex!
Maybe it’s a coincidence that “Thee Rant” a forum for former and current NYPD officers is filled to the brim with virulent racist ********!
Maybe it’s a coincidence that when Kinloch, Missouri elected a Black woman as mayor, police actually blocked her and prevented her from entering City Hall!
Maybe it’s a coincidence that six of the eight officers in Parma, Missouri resigned after another Black woman was elected mayor!
Maybe it’s just a coincidence that a police sergeant came into work with two targets in the image of Trayvon Martin!
Maybe it’s just a coincidence that North Miami Beach Police were using mugshots of Black Men for target practice!
Maybe it’s just a coincidence that there were people at the NYPD editing Wikipedia articles of Black men that the NYPD had killed!
Maybe it’s a coincidence that the former police chief of Ferguson admitted that, unless someone had been killed, they didn’t keep records of incidences when police used force against citizens!
Maybe it’s just a coincidence that, in general, excessive/lethal force is so underreported in this country that the FBI can’t even get a good handle on just how big the problem is!
Maybe it’s a coincidence that 86% of the people stopped by the Ferguson police in 2013 were Black and only 12.8% were white, even though white people still managed to have a higher contraband rate than Black people!
Maybe it’s a coincidence that over 300 Black people have been killed by the police, and it’s only April!
Maybe it’s a coincidence that Black male teens are 21 times more likely to be shot than white male teens!
Maybe it’s a coincidence that under the Stop & Frisk Policy (which has thankfully slowed down in the last year until the number of people stopped were only in the tens of thousands), Black people consistently made up roughly 55% of the people stopped and frisked!
Maybe it’s a coincidence that this happened despite the fact that Black people make up less than a quarter of New York’s population!
Maybe it’s a coincidence that police stopped and frisked so many Black men, that they managed to frisk more Black men than the number of actual Black men in the city! (In other words, these Black men were getting stopped multiple times)
Maybe it’s a coincidence that, despite this, whites were still more likely to have guns!
Maybe it’s just a coincidence that every 28 hours a Black person in this country is killed extra judiciously!
Maybe it’s a coincidence that Black people have to stay knowledgeable on these things!
Maybe it’s a coincidence that we have to research and read articles and reports about police brutality statistics and stay apprised of which Black person got shot today and research what the prison industrial complex is and learn about the school-to-prison pipeline and learn about racial discrimination in job hiring practices, college acceptance rates, racist predatory loan practices, disparate punishment of little Black children, the reasons behind why studies suggest that White people believe we feel less pain, the reasons why we can’t go a week without a group of us becoming hashtags.
Maybe it’s a coincidence that we actually have to know what the **** we’re talking about when we discuss race, but you ignorant-ass-condescending-think-you-know-everything-because-you-read-the-same-MLK-speech-that-we-all-did-in-5th-grade little shitheads like to pop up when we’re dealing with our **** and demand that we do your research for you!
Maybe it’s a coincidence that while you sit on your ****ing ass and demand that we teach you the most basic things regarding race and what we’re dealing with because of racism, we actually have to learn stuff!
Maybe it’s a coincidence that you had to be spoon fed this information that a simple Google search would have given you if only you had given the sliver of a **** necessary!
Maybe the 400 years of brutal, institutionalized racism that was built into the very fabric of this country was magically eradicated in four decades!
Or maybe, maybe that whole racism thing…is still a thing.
While I know that the violence referred to on this list doesn’t bother you in the least, it does bother us.
So how about, next time any of us are discussing the protesting, either pretend to be a human being capable of empathizing with Black people or shut the **** up.
You have a good, God blessed day.
