It went there with “Heaven Knows.” It went there with “Messed Up World.” This week, it gets there with “Follow Me Down.”
The latest single from The Pretty Reckless’ “Going to Hell” becomes the band’s third straight song to reach #1 on Billboard’s airplay-driven Mainstream Rock Songs chart. The song dethrones The Offspring’s “Coming for You,” which spent one week atop the listing. It also establishes new records for female-fronted Mainstream Rock acts.
Prior to reaching #1 with “Follow Me Down,” TPR was already the first female-fronted group to reach #1 with its first two Mainstream Rock Songs entries. It followed The Pretenders as the second female-fronted band to score two straight number ones.
By scoring a third straight #1, TPR extends the former record and takes sole ownership of the latter.
It also sets a record for most Mainstream Rock number ones ever achieved by a female or female-fronted act. With two chart-toppers each, Steve Nicks, Halestorm and The Pretenders are the only such acts to even claim more than a single Mainstream Rock number one.
