I’m hearing that Lionel Richie will get that proposed residency on the Strip but in Britney Spears’ Axis at Planet Hollywood rather than the Venetian’s former “Phantom — the Las Vegas Spectacular” theater.

It’s a case of a 7,000-seat auditorium beating out a 1,900-seat palace because of box office receipts. The Lionel run of shows gets added to the Jennifer Lopez run that also fills in around open “Britney: Piece of Me” dates, as we reported here at Vegas DeLuxe many weeks ago.

Plans for a Janet Jackson run of shows at the Venetian have fallen through for the moment as she turned down what was labeled the final financial offer.

But Diana Ross, who loved her first run of nine sold-out shows for more than 16,000 fans, is mulling a return for more. She’s checking future dates with a new contract offer for the Venetian showroom.

Actress Sarah Jessica Parker, singer Jordin Sparks, boxing champion Mike Tyson, Olympic figure skating champion Oksana Baiul and Diana’s actress daughter Tracee Ellis Ross with the cast from her hit ABC series “Black-ish” attended “The Essential Diana Ross: Some Memories Never Fade” during its run.

This is silly, her Number Ones tour was sold out (she had to add 40+ shows).

The more likely explanation is that first Janet just did not want to do it and Janet doesn't want to spend that much time in the states (she lives in Qatar, Paris and London now).

Child, there's a whole generation of people who grew up listening to Janet's music who would love to see her in concert, regardless of her current "status" or "relevance" in 2015. If I was in Vegas I would go see Janet. However, I would not see Britney. Why? Because Janet would probably sing at least one song live, she has dozens of iconic tracks in her catalog, and she would say "hi" to the audience.

I miss Janet very much. I never expected her to go to Vegas anyway.

I would love to know the financials of what they offered Janet. I'm sure they'll offer her more once they realize how much she could bring in.

I agree with the first part of this. Janet was huge in the US. Regardless to the nipplegate, there's thousands of people who would see her.

Good. Pull a Shania and go on tour instead.

She needs to release another album, promote it and go on another theater tour. I need to see her live.

I need a smash, radio deal, commercial branding, the whole nine yards. I need her to return and at the least give us an arena tour. She is very missed and people are sleeping on her impact and influence.
