The 2009 American Music Awards performed well for ABC last night, early viewing figures show.
The ceremony, which saw Taylor Swift pick up five gongs and featured performances from artists including Janet Jackson, Black Eyed Peas and Whitney Houston, averaged 14.2m between 8pm and 11pm, pulling in the largest audience for the show since 2002.
Over on CBS, 9.2m watched Cold Case at 9pm, and the 10pm Three Rivers drew 7.7m.
The Simpsons and The Cleveland Show logged 7m and 6.5m for Fox at 8pm, then Family Guy and American Dad interested 7.4m and 5.5m during the 9pm hour.
NBC's Sunday Night Football coverage led the Peacock network to primetime victory, averaging 15.1m between 8pm and 11pm.
