This leaked two days ago and it's ****ing brilliant. It's rawer than
Torres but very poignant. It almost feels like her
Exile in Guyville. From "Ferris Wheel" where she laments about unrequited love ("There's nothing in this world I wouldn't do to show you that I've got sadness too") and sounds a bit like Lana to "The Exchange", the perfect closure where she questions immortality and expresses her fear of her "heroes" (parents) getting older and being left alone. "A Proper Polish Welcome" and "New Skin" are amazing as well.
What a productive year when it comes to females in alternative rock. We've got Courtney Barnett's Kim Deal-influenced debut album full of wit, Waxahatchee's short but sweet indie rock folk "essay" that recalls the early days of Cat Power and now Torres with her Liz Phair/PJ Harvey-like honesty and toughness.
