Because it's GDP. China is still really poor per person i've no idea why'd you expect it to be there. Japan and Germany must be pretty close but the countries above them have tiny populations and a lot of oil.The other 'countries' are basically city states. London would easily be in the top ten if it wasn't part of the uk.
