A Colorado Senate committee killed a bill Wednesday that the state’s gay rights organizations and mental health groups had high hopes for: a ban on gay conversion therapy for minors.
The ban failed on a 3-2 party-line vote in the Senate State, Veterans and Military Affairs Committee. Republican Sens. Ray Scott of Grand Junction, Jerry Sonnenberg of Sterling and Owen Hill of Colorado Springs voted to kill the bill. Democratic Sens. Andy Kerr and Pat Steadman voted for the ban.
Owen Hill, a senator who voted against the bill:
Quote:
I was one of the “no” votes on this bill as I am hesitant to use the heavy hand of government to take away the dignity of choice in cases where individuals want this therapy.
Well the bill was for minors who are forced into therapy without even wanting it, which makes it even worse
Yep poor kids who have to go through this complete nonsense. Whats even worse is if they convince themselves they are not gay then they are in for even a bumpier ride
