Musical taste trumps DNA for Frances Bean Cobain, because it turns out she doesn't like Nirvana -- and her feelings about her father aren't much better.
Cobain told Rolling Stone she's just not much of a fan of Kurt Cobain's old band, instead preferring the likes of Mercury Rev, Oasis, and Brian Jonestown Massacre.
Frances Bean (who only referred to her father by his first name) did single out the song "Dumb" ... describing it as "a stripped-down version of Kurt's perception of himself -- of himself on drugs, off drugs, feeling inadequate to be titled the voice of a generation." She says she cries every time she hears it.
Cobain, now 22, also sounds like she's still angry about her father's suicide ... saying she understands his music inspired a generation -- and adds without that he'd "just be another guy who abandoned his family in the most awful way possible."
Well she's right. Suicide is nothing to be celebrated and he did abandon his family by killing himself. You can't expect for her to sympathize when she has no memory of him.
I'm not sure if that's what's she's saying. It's more of she doesn't belive that he should be held to such a high standard. And with that comes glorifying his death.
Look at it through her eyes. This is a girl whose father died when she was a baby, and grew up without a father who happened to leave in the worse way, suicide.

He had a lot of problem and couldn't handle them. Doesn't mean that he didn't love her or diminish her importance in his life. Quite the opposite, you could crealy see how much Kurt loved her and how she was the most important thing for him.

She has every right to feel however she feels about him. That was her father and her opinion in him, no matter what it is, is justified.

Also suicide isn't always about mental illness. Somethings it really about how much someone can bare. Ppl are all different.

Her father loved her deeply, he just had his demons he couldn't put an end to. I can't help but feel this - she sounds bitter (maybe rightfully so) and ungrateful (not justified).
