I am atheist/agnostic but not anti-theist and I have lots of respect for people who attempt to rationally explain their belief in God/gods. Or even if they can't, as long as they are not hurting anyone, religious freedom should be guaranteed!

I don't understand how people can be atheists...there's too much evidence from the world itself that God exists...

An atheist would say the opposite. It's best to believe what you believe in and allow others to believe what they do.

I think organised religion is causing more harm to the world than good. And we can take the good out of organised religion (like charity work) and continue them with out all the unfounded beliefs.

At the same time, the older I get, the more I realise you shouldn't mock those who believe in an afterlife on a personal level. You never know what their reasons for believing something are. Maybe their mum died when they were a kid. Or maybe their kid died as an infant. If the thought of seeing their loved one in an afterlife is what keeps them going each day, then don't mock it, even if it is based on absolutely no evidence.

Religion should only be mocked when it's causing harm.

You can't be both. Atheist don't belive in gods or a God. Agnostics don't believe or disbelieve in God.
