With 13 weeks and counting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars' "Uptown Funk!" has entered an elite class of smashes that enjoyed the longest runs atop the chart in its 56-year history. Only a handful of songs have spent more time at the top of the Hot 100 chart since it was first introduced in 1958, and only a few more have been at No. 1 for 10 weeks or more.
If Ronson and Mars' collaboration spends at least one more week at No. 1, "Uptown Funk!" will join a list of six songs -- including the Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling," Los Del Rio's "Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix)" and Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" -- that have spent 14 weeks in the penthouse of the Hot 100. And if it logs three more weeks at No. 1, the current hit will tie Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day" for the longest-leading Hot 100 No. 1 ever, at 16 weeks. Of course, "Uptown Funk!" would hold the title by itself if it makes it to 17 weeks at No. 1.
One title "Uptown Funk!" already holds? The longest run at No. 1 during this decade (so far). By surpassing the 12-week run of Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines," Mars and Ronson can now claim that honor by themselves. Click here to view the Top 10 longest-running Hot 100 No. 1s of the 2010s.
What do you think of the chart dominance of "Uptown Funk!"? Will it continue its run into the Hot 100 record books?
