This stuff works in Country music. Hard times and God are natural sellers, it will probably be a hit.

On the show, he came off as a douche because of the way the show portrayed him, trying to push him to the final 2. He was very naive, and never realized how his self-confidence was being taken as arrogance and how the show portrayed the death of his wife as him going for sympathy. Add to that the natural repulsion of people that realize they were being force fed Danny Gokey, and he came out of the show very tarnished.
