It's based on sales. They have categories in every popular genre + regional awards + a legend award. I like them, cause every year big names are making suprise apperances, especially for the legend awards (Michael, Celine, Mariah)...
I don't know! Avril Lavigne was suppossed to be there but because of the delay of her album she's not going to, so I don't know but yeah they're important they represent worldwide awards and we can also see them worldwide all big important celebs have been there .
I'm sure this year they're going to make a big MJ tribute (they should do!)
