Tickets for the first date are doing fine (although not even close to selling out), but unless they start filling more seats for the rest of the residency, Mariah may be in trouble.

A quick look at ticket available at AXS shows that you can still buy a group of five seats that are pretty close to the stage to see Mariah Carey on Sunday, May 10.

If you don’t want to pay $250 for premium seats, there are plenty of tickets left in all other price ranges. Even though Mariah Carey tickets have been available since January 15 for the 4,000 seat theater, you will have no problem buying practically a whole row of ten seats towards the front floor section for the May 20show.

A quick look through tickets looks like at least one third of the seats are still available for purchase. When looking at dates in June, it looks like Mariah, as of right now, may play to almost full venues of emptiness. This is a stark contrast to Mariah’s former rival Madonna, who is already adding dates at venues three times the size on her tour due to high ticket demand, despite tickets costing as much as $400.

They really need to do some promo for it. Like...they kinda just announced it randomly, did the Ellen appearance and that's it. They didn't do a photo shoot for promo posters or anything.

There's absolutely nothing that could entice someone to go.

But I think it'll do okay, it's only a few dates.

I hope this isn't true, but if it is, I can't say I'm surprised. All the negative press she's been getting lately with the tragic mic feed leaks has definitely affected how people see her

But Mariah is a living legend, who at the same time hasn't really actively pursued her career and relevance since 2009, so I don't think any of us were expecting her residency to slay

She decided to do a live show after the only headlines about her recently were for not very good live vocals. How is that going to sell a show? I don't believe this though.

She was never "able" to tour because she... never toured in the first place. In the entire 90s decade she only had 25 tour dates total because it was too strenuous on her voice (which she didn't "lose" until the late 2000s at the earliest by the WAY)

The Adventures of Mimi Tour was HUGE and even when she was at one of her most commercial slumps, the Charmbracelet Tour was a monumental success. About her voice, the earliest one can say she lost it is the Memoirs era since Emancipation was FULL of some of her best live performances.
