Due to this alone, it makes perfect sense why BBC Radio 2 decided not to add any of the new songs to rotation, as they simply lack relevance to any buying audience, and lack even further in overall quality.

Even those who have long carried the flag for Madonna cannot deny how comparatively dull and uninspired “Rebel Heart” is from beginning to end, and it’s understandable in some ways due to the fact that she has abandoned pretty much everyone that was a part of her two decades of musical success. From writers to producers, Madonna has cleared the decks over the last few records, and the resulting sounds may be more pleasing to her ears, the overall sales of her last six records show a constant and consistent decline in terms of both sales and singles success.

Many will rightfully argue that Madonna is far beyond something like a greatest hits tour, as she has always strived to redefine herself from album to album, and never settle for her past accomplishments. However, every great artist also needs to know when it’s time to hang up the microphone before a legacy is too heavily tarnished. For Madonna, that time was nearly a decade ago, and the more she ignores this fact, the larger the footnote on her legacy will become.

Of course she's going to struggle to sell albums. Her age plays a big part in it and she's been around for ages so who even cares? she's a legend and the queen of pop.

Ki at them not talking about the quality of the album (well, in that brief quote you posted). It's better than both of her last two albums and, I don't know, maybe had it been absolute trash then we could be having this discussion... But, still, at the end of the day, she isn't tarnishing her legacy by only selling less than 150k in two weeks lol.

She's pretty admirable for never giving up on (dance) music despite all these sexist and ageist comments she has received the last decade or two. Why stop doing what you love esp. when you aren't hurting yourself?!

I kinda agree, i mean nobody expects from her to be successful after 30+ years but she should really be careful not to damage her legacy...the same thing is true about Mariah Carey.
