Of course it's possible. One of the best examples of this is the coelacanth. (I would post a picture, but they're a little frightening looking.) They were thought to have gone extinct in the late Cretaceous period, until a living specimen was discovered in 1938. (They're still alive, but
extremely endangered of extinction.) Not to mention that new species are discovered all the time. Is it possible that there is no Loch Ness Monster? Of course. But it's also possible that there is.
