Why do people say "personality is everything"?

First thing first, you can't see someone's personality: if someone is ugly, the chances are you'll leave em in the cold, unless you're a member of club ugly.

Second thing second, how do you get to the personality stage if someone isn't aesthetically pleasing?

I don't think many people will outright refuse to speak to someone simply because they are not attracted to them, you can be friends with someone and get to know them and over time you can like their personality more and more to the point where it develops into romantic feelings, and when that happens they can start to appear more attractive and appealing.

A decent personality can makeup for a body that has nothing to write home about with. My ex had a decent looking face, but a circle shaped body with saggy chest, but he was really sweet to me when we were together and gave me this front of thinking that I meant a lot to him. But once his parents disliked me, he gave up on me and threw me away basically.

And then I learned that a lot of people around us that hang out where we do disliked him, but didn't tell me because they really liked me and didn't want to upset me. And I finally saw why after we broke up. It's like his real self finally came into play.

Someone's personality can make someone worse than their looks. His body may not be my first choice, but I had a lot of fun controlling him and playing with his body. His personality is what has turned me off from him.

I don't look for handsome guys, It's just what is going to do the "click" for me.

I think sometimes personality can make someone so much more attractive. They may not be the most perfect aesthetically but sometimes they just have that 'it factor' that makes them way more appealing.

Not saying looks dont matter because obviously they do, but its not the one dimensional exterior that is everything when talking about physical attraction

Personality is far more important in the long run but looks is the first thing you see so we can't dismiss them

Well, I obviously have to be attracted to the person, but their personality plays a way bigger part than their looks.

For example, I have a friend, who I wasn't sure if I was attracted to or not, however months of talking and his personality helped me find him more cute.

This has happened many times, looks can only get you so far.

Personality plays a huge role but I'm not saying I would date someone that looks like a boulder and have the best personality.

a good personality is way more attractive than any physical feature which is why I don't judge guys based on their looks. I'll talk to them no matter what they look like and if they seem interesting then I'll meet them

Today i was at a Mexican Restaurant and this waiter their was extremely handsome. TO my surprise my sister use to go to school with him and use to like him, but my mother told me that he messed around with a lot of girls while he was dating another girl. That instantly turned me off and I payed no mind to him after that.
